Free Used Car Inspection in Ranchi: The 200+ Checks We Run Before We Will Put Our Name on a Car

Every Used Car Is Hiding Something. The Question Is What.

That is not cynicism — it is arithmetic. A five-year-old car has had five years of owners, roads, monsoons, workshops and decisions you were not there for. Some of that history is harmless. Some of it is a bent chassis rail behind a straight-looking bumper.

The seller may not even be concealing it. Plenty of people genuinely do not know their car was structurally repaired before they bought it. Either way, you are the one who finds out.

We inspect every car across 200+ checkpoints before it goes onto our floor. And we will run that same inspection, free, on a car you are buying from somebody else.

What We Check

Structure — the checks that matter most

Everything else can be repaired. Structure often cannot, not properly. We check panel gaps for symmetry, look for weld marks and paint overspray in the door shuts, engine bay and boot channel, and gauge paint thickness across every panel to find resprays.

We check whether the car sits level and tracks straight, because a car that pulls under braking after an alignment has usually been hit. We look underneath — at the floor pan, sills and suspension mounting points — which is where structural repair is hardest to disguise and where almost nobody looks.

Engine and transmission

Cold start wherever possible, because a warm engine hides its worst habits. We listen at idle and under load, check for leaks at the head gasket, sump, and transmission housing, inspect the coolant and oil for contamination, and watch the exhaust on start-up. Blue smoke, white smoke and black smoke each tell you a different and specific story.

On automatics we check shift quality through the range, cold and warm. A torque converter or DSG problem is a large repair and it announces itself early if you know what to listen for.

Electricals and electronics

Every switch, every window, every lamp. Air conditioning tested for actual cooling performance, not just airflow — in a Jharkhand summer this is not a small item. Battery health and charging voltage. On cars that support it, we read stored fault codes, including intermittent ones that are not currently lighting up the dashboard.

Tyres, brakes and suspension

Tread depth on all four plus the spare, and the manufacturing date on each sidewall. Uneven wear across a tyre tells you about alignment, suspension or a past impact. Brake pad and disc condition. Shock absorbers checked for leaks and bounce.

Paperwork — where the expensive surprises live

This is the section people skip and regret. We verify the chassis and engine numbers physically against the RC. We check for a hypothecation entry that has never been cleared, which will block your transfer. We check insurance history for claim entries, the pollution certificate, and whether the car has a valid fitness position.

We also check the build month, not just the registration year — which matters more than ever now that E20 compliance runs on an April 2023 line.

Five Things That Make Us Reject a Car Outright

We turn cars away. These are the ones we do not argue about:

  • Structural or chassis damage. Cosmetic accident repair is negotiable. A compromised structure is not — it changes how the car protects you in the next accident.
  • Odometer tampering. When the service records, tyre wear, pedal rubber and interior condition disagree with the number on the dash, the number is wrong. A car that has been lied about in one place has usually been lied about in others.
  • Flood damage. Silt in the spare wheel well, waterline staining under the carpet, corrosion on connectors under the seats. Flood cars develop electrical faults for years and never stop.
  • Unresolved hypothecation or document mismatch. If the paperwork cannot be transferred cleanly, nothing else about the car matters.
  • Engine or transmission faults that cannot be honestly disclosed and priced. If it can be fixed, we fix it or we price it in and say so. If it cannot, we pass.

Why We Do It Free on Cars We Are Not Selling

Because an inspection is only worth something if the inspector does not need a particular answer. If we charged you for an inspection and then wanted to sell you the car, you would be right to discount everything we told you.

So the booking fee is ₹0, and we will inspect a car you found on OLX, through a broker, or at another dealership. Sometimes the report tells you the car is good and you buy it from someone else. That is a fine outcome — you will remember who told you the truth when it is your turn to sell.

You Also Get a Valuation

Condition without price is only half an answer. Alongside the report you get honest used car valuation guidance — what this specific car, at this specific condition and kilometre reading, is actually worth in the Jharkhand market right now.

That is the number that turns an inspection into negotiating power. "I would like a discount" is a wish. "Three panels have been resprayed, the front tyres are from 2021, and comparable cars are trading ₹40,000 below this asking price" is a position.

How It Works

Book a slot, bring the car — or tell us where it is. The inspection takes about an hour for the standard 200-point check. You get a clear condition report, the valuation guidance, and a straight recommendation. No pressure to transact with us at the end of it.

We have been buying and selling cars in Ranchi since 1992. The only reason that works over thirty years is that people can trust what we tell them about a car — including when we tell them not to buy it.

Get the Car Inspected Before You Pay

A used car hides its history well. Our inspection covers engine, structure, electricals and paperwork — and you get the report in writing.
